All the Little Lights Review

Hey Readers!

So today I am going to be reviewing All the Little Lights by Jamie McGuire. I first fell in love with Jamie's writing when my plane got delayed and I found her book Beautiful Disaster in the airport store. All the Little Lights follows her style of writing and ability to make you feel like your part of the story. You are able to place yourself in the characters foot steps, and might even have experienced some of the same events as the main characters do.

The description of the book has been taken from Goodreads:

"The first time Elliott Youngblood spots Catherine Calhoun, he’s just a boy with a camera, and he’s never seen a sadder and more beautiful sight. Both Elliott and Catherine feel like outcasts, yet they find an easy friendship with each other. But when Catherine needs him most, Elliott is forced to leave town.

Elliott finally returns, but he and Catherine are now different people. He’s a star high school athlete, and she spends all her free time working at her mother’s mysterious bed-and-breakfast. Catherine hasn’t forgiven Elliott for abandoning her, but he’s determined to win back her friendship…and her heart.

Just when Catherine is ready to fully trust Elliott, he becomes the prime suspect in a local tragedy. Despite the town’s growing suspicions, Catherine clings to her love for Elliott. But a devastating secret that Catherine has buried could destroy whatever chance of happiness they have left".

This story is told from Elliott's point of view and Catherine's point of view. You get to experience both sides of the story and get a better understanding of each character. Catherine is written as a strong female character, which I absolutely love, and plus she isn't perfect and has her own flaws, so she is more relatable. Plus don't get me started on how hot Elliott sounds, because oh my lord, he sounds like one fine man, which is in true Jamie fashion. You are taken on a journey through heartbreak, first love, forgiveness, and suspense. Catherine and Elliott are not perfect at all, which gives them more of a real person feel, because in all honestly the less perfect a character is, the better the story is. Catherine has her share of heartbreak and loss, while at the same time learning some new things about herself. Elliott has his own share of problems, and through it is able to be strong and supportive of Catherine.

I don't want to give too much away, because in all honestly it would be very easy to do with this amazing story. This story will take you on a roller coaster ride that you are not going to want to get off of. I wanted to finish the book, but than again I didn't because I didn't want to let this beautiful story between these two characters go. This is a good book to read by a fire, with tissues on hand, under a blanket, with a nice cup of hot chocolate.

Get ready to go on the ride of your life, and just maybe you will fall in love along the way!

About Me

Hey Guys,

I created this blog, because I wanted to share my love of reading with fellow book nerds. To me reading is a way that we can escape life, and we are able to visit other places without leaving. I want to also give honest reviews about books. I will post about every book I read, but I won't give out spoilers, because I want everyone to be surprised by the ending. The books that I will review are from several different genres, because I honestly read just a little bit of everything.

I don't know how many people this blog will reach, but I also created it because I love writing. To me writing is a way to express feelings and emotions, especially about books that break my heart, and make me fall in love with them. You can always tell a good book by how it makes you feel while reading it. Does it immerse you into the story that you experience the same emotions as the characters? Do you scream at them that they are making a huge mistake, and cheer for them when something goes right for them? Do you cry when they get their heart broken and feel scared when they are scared?

If you have experienced all or any of the above things while reading, than congratulations, you have read a book or many books that have transported you into their story. I will admit I have gone through all of these emotions and more. I have cried, laughed, gotten anxious, fell in love, and never wanted a story to end. I have even read books in one sitting because I couldn't stop reading, and I needed to know what happened than and there. Those books are the kind that you think about over and over again and read over and over again.

My promise is that good or bad, I will give my honest opinion on a book. Now just because I don't find a book appealing, doesn't mean that you might not, who knows you may chose to read a book, and loved it even though my review was the opposite. That's okay, because everyone has their own tastes, and knows what grabs their attention. I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I am going to enjoy writing on it!

Happy Reading!!!!
